Heirloom Exposition

Heirloom Exposition, Santa Rosa CA 2012
As an ambassador for Fort Bragg's community farm-to-school program, the Noyo Food Forest, I attended the second Heirloom Exposition in Santa Rosa this past Thursday September 13. The lineup of exhibitors and speakers was perfect for any farm/garden/food geek such as myself: a Demeter Biodynamic demo garden, countless varieties of seed, Clarington English garden tools, Japanese Maples, bee and livestock madness; speaking engagements from Ecology Action's founder John Jeavons and Slow Food's founder Carlo Petrini; a video presentation by Vandana Shiva and so much more that I couldn't possibly make way for.

Another perk was that I was able to share a booth with Anne Beck, the co-founder of Fort Bragg's Lost Coast Culture Machine and market the sale of Laurie York and Carmen Goodyear's 2012 dvd release, Women On The Land. LCCM has been making some incredible handmade paper from locally sourced recycled denim, pampas grass, decommissioned US currency and second hand clothing rags as well as offering paper making classes in their space. See more about that HERE
